Patuli In South Kolkata Is Emerging As The Hub Of City’s Best Restaurants & Markets

Over the past years, Patuli is evolving into a perfect South Kolkata neighborhood, in every way. Nestled amidst calmness away from proper Kolkata’s hustle and bustle, Patuli is well-linked with the centre and corners of the city. The neighborhood reflects both the past and the present filled with a lively atmosphere. Patuli is growing into one of those must-visit hangout spots; ecstatic and vibrant. This hangout hub has a lot to offer and explore apart from being just a classic ‘adda’ spot.

Patuli Floating Market

People started recognising Patuli as an attraction of Kolkata after its Floating Market. Patuli’s waterbody was converted into a local market in 2015 for those sellers who had to close their shops when the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass got extended to 6 lanes from 4. The market has some touches and feels of Thailand too. Decorated beautifully with wooden bridges, more than 200 shopkeepers earn their livelihood from this place. Apart from being a market selling fruits, vegetables, and meat to the locals, it has also evolved into a famous place just to witness the market for the first time.

To spend moments in serenity, Patuli Jheel park is the go-to place. Surrounded by the rash of the bypass, the park is a step closer to calmness. The place is beautifully decorated with the most distinctive signs of Kolkata and the Bengalis. It has beautifully crafted models of football, Howrah bridge, and Durga Puja, their own way of admiring the most precious love of the Bengal. The area is also very popular with walkers and cyclists as hundreds come here to walk and cycle around the water body every day. Young and old, everyone love to have a proper ‘adda’ session beside the lake while munching on some delicious foods from around.

Food Heaven

This neighborhood is an ultimate place for all food lovers. Tons of restaurants and food outlets are adorning this locality every day. Anyone will get confused while deciding what to eat among so many options like Mughlai, Asian, Chinese, Bangladeshi cuisine or maybe spending quality time sitting in one of those aesthetic cafes. There are way more options than this buzzing in this area. The proper way to have a Bengali meal is gulping desserts or mishti. Likewise every other place in Bengal, Patuli too has some sweet shops. You can either indulge in some sweetness from these sweet shops or indulge in some desserts from the bakeries like Mio Amore or Cakes. To add on top of it, Baskin Robins and Pabrai’s aren’t too far for that perfect ice cream craving.
