Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru is known for its thriving outdoor space, replete with food and shopping kiosks. And soon, Kochi airport in Kerala will also be developed along these lines —where you can hang around with your gang at the airport without buying any flight tickets.

Kochi Airport Revamp To Attract Gen Z For Day-Out Experience

According to a report by The New Indian Express, Kochi airport is on a mission to attract Gen Z and millennials for a day-outs. A source revealed to the news portal that the Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) shall undergo a revamp similar to the lines of Bengaluru airport. This means, visitors will have comfy outdoor benches to relax, swanky restaurants to grab a bite and much more.

Authorities want to increase the airport’s revenue from the non-aero sector. So, what can be a better way than developing Kochi airport into a weekend hangout spot? S Suhas, the Managing Director of CIAL revealed to The Indian Express that airport incurred huge losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, a change in revenue strategy will lead to Kochi airport generating 70 per cent revenue from non-aero sector and just 30 percent from aero sector.

Bengaluru Airport Known For Hosting Concerts & More

Meanwhile, did you know Bengaluru airport has an arena which hosts concerts? There is an upcoming Prateek Kuhad concert which will leave music lovers grooving to his numbers on December 17. With food outlets like Hatti Kappi and Subway nestled right outside the airport, millennials like to drive by for a relaxing night of coffee and sandwiches.
