After years of deliberations, delays, and ups and downs, Ayodhya is finally set to open doors to the Ram Mandir on January 22. Thousands of devotees are expected to visit this spiritual town after the inauguration. To make travel earlier for all the tourists and devotees, the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhya Dham is all set to welcome many direct flights from major cities across India. So, if you’re planning a trip to Ayodhya soon, here are five direct flights that are either already operational or will begin soon at the Ayodhya International Airport. Please note that this information is subject to change, as per the airlines.

1. Delhi – Air India Express

If you’re travelling to the city of Ram from Delhi, then you lucked out because Air India Express is operating daily flights between the two cities. Started on 30th December, this flight is already operational with one scheduled departure every day. Similarly, IndiGo has daily flights on this route as well. In fact, the latter was the first carrier to operate from the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport. Their commercial services, however, will begin on January 06, 2024. Although both the airlines are operational daily, their flight frequency is limited to one departure every day, as for now.

Flight Timings (from Delhi): 10 AM (Air India Express) & 11:55 AM (IndiGo)

2. Mumbai – IndiGo

Starting from 15th January 2024, IndiGo will kickstart direct flights to Ayodhya from the financial capital of India. These flights will be operational every day and have started with an aim to improve tourism and ease travel for the devotees who have anticipated the opening of the Ram Mandir. This short-duration flight will also act as a connecting flight to Ayodhya from other cities across the country. Just like their Delhi route, the flight frequency from Mumbai to Ayodhya is limited to one departure every day currently.

3. Bengaluru – Air India Express

Air India Express has worked to improve connectivity to Ayodhya with direct flights from all the major cities in India. That’s why after Delhi, they moved to another metro city – Bengaluru. Commencing January 17, this flight will be operational three days a week and will be less than two and a half hours long. These tri-weekly flights will be non-stop and significantly boost connectivity and tourism for this pilgrim in Uttar Pradesh.

Frequency: 3 days a week
Days of Operation: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
Flight Timings (from Bengaluru): 8:05 AM

4. Ahmedabad – IndiGo

The direct flights from Ahmedabad to Ayodhya will be starting from January 11. IndiGo will operate these flights three times a week. This will help improve accessibility, travel, and commerce in Ayodhya. The run time of this direct flight will be less than two hours. And will give this spiritual city a boost in tourism as well.

Days of Operation: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
Flight Timings (from Ahmedabad): 9:10 AM

5. Kolkata – Air India Express

Connecting one spiritual town to another, Air India Express will launch its third direct flight route from Kolkata. Starting from 17th January, this flight will improve connectivity for people from Eastern India to Ayodhya and in turn, Uttar Pradesh. As a pivotal hub, Kolkata is likely to draw huge numbers of tourists to this holy city and these flights will be operational three days a week.

Frequency: 3 days a week
Days of Operation: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays
Flight Timings (from Kolkata): 1:25 PM
