Private Vehicles Will No Longer Have To Pay Toll In Madhya Pradesh

In a big move, toll fees will now be collected from commercial vehicles only on the 101 km long route to Rahatgarh Sagar via Garatganj-Begumganj in Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation Limited (MPRDC) stated that they had initially decided to take toll fees from all the vehicles. However, the government has decided to take toll fees only from the commercial vehicles passing through this route. Read on to know more!

Who Will Not Pay Toll Fees?

The MP government has also decided on the vehicles which will be paying the toll fees and which will not. Earlier there were nine categories and now the government has decided on 25 categories of vehicles which do not have to pay the toll. Vehicles plying on the 17 routes of the state of Madhya Pradesh include both Central and state government vehicles. The vehicles belonging to former members of Parliament and Legislative Assembly, Indian Army vehicles. All government employees’ vehicles to vehicles carrying dead bodies, do not have to pay toll tax.

Other vehicles like ambulances, Fire Brigade, Indian Posts and Telegraph Department vehicles will also be exempted from paying the toll payment.

Apart from the government vehicles, and those on assigned Central duties, passenger vehicles, vehicles used for agricultural purposes, auto rickshaws, two-wheelers, and prominent journalists’ vehicles will also be exempted from paying the toll.

In a cabinet meeting done last month, it was decided that toll tax on the Rahatgarh Sagar via Garatganj-Begumganj will not be levied on all the vehicles plying on that particular route.
