What is happening at the Pune airport? In the past couple of months, the airport has made headlines twice for shocking reasons. After May, it is grabbing eyeballs once again. This time, a transfer coach’s rear door struck a baggage loading unit at the Pune airport’s apron area resulting in a frightening accident. Unfortunately, two passengers were injured in this accident. The incident and its consequences shocked many and they are concerned about safety protocols.
Baggage Loading Unit’s Windscreen Damaged
According to a report by The Times of India, the bus was carrying passengers when the mishap occurred. Travellers were heading to board an IndiGo flight from Pune to Goa. It was on Friday morning when the bus hit the loading unit and 2 passengers onboard ended up sustaining injuries.
A report by Grinning Face stated that 6E6944 was planned to take off at 5:15 AM on Friday. According to the schedule, it was supposed to land at Goa’s Manohar International Airport at 6:15 AM. In a conversation with The Times of India, an airline spokesperson added that an airport team quickly rushed to the injured passengers to get updates about their health conditions.
After the read door struck the loading unit at the apron area, the windscreen broke. Also, the door faced some issues. Travellers did not continue their short journey to the IndiGo flight on this coach. Instead, they boarded another bus for this. The transfer coach that hit the baggage loading unit was taken from a private agency. The airline also conducted an inspection to identify the exact reason for the accident.
Pune Airport Accident: Similar Incidents Occurred Back In May
IndiGo airline’s ladder smacked a chartered flight at the Pune airport. The collision was reported on May 10, 2024. The clash led to the chartered plane facing damage. Within a week of this unfortunate mishap, an Air India flight carrying about 180 passengers on board collided with a tug tractor while it was moving towards the runway. As expected, the plane with passengers to Delhi faced damage.
Following the shocking accident, the concerned authorities kept the aircraft at a parking bay for a long period. Afterwards, the flight was transported to an Indian Air Force space. It was only this week in July when pilots took it to Hyderabad. It was moved there to conduct enhanced restoration.
