A local wholesale and retail ice vendor in Pune was the person to allegedly spot the frozen rodent. According to a report by News18, he found a dead rat trapped inside the ice block in a freezer. It has been revealed that the vendor sourced the ice from an ice manufacturing factory in Junnar, Pune. Netizens are shocked and frustrated by all these incidents. This latest report not only showed the negligence of people involved in such work but also raised people’s concerns.
There are lakhs of people in India who work as ice vendors. Their primary responsibilities include delivering huge quantities of ice to restaurants, factories, ice cream vendors, and people working with ice. Also, the demand for ice is going to skyrocket in the next few days during the insufferable summer season.
Lakhs of people step outside every day and drink juices from local vendors. Thousands of people visit restaurants and enjoy drinks with ice. People of Pune are questioning the Maharashtra Food & Drugs Administration and several departments for this incident. Also, many are demanding a rise in checkings and raids to find if manufacturers are properly maintaining hygiene protocols.
A severe lapse like this is not only scary but is extremely life-threatening. Food contamination is a terrible issue and people can unfortunately lose their lives or face health issues as well. In addition to raids, people demanded concerned departments take strict steps if manufacturers do not follow rules and regulations.
