Puri Railway Station Get World Class Makeover

Announced on July 8  by Ved Parkash Dudeja, Vice Chairman, Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), Puri’s railway station will receive a major revamp to attract more tourists. Ved Parkash Dudeja also informed that the RLDA has also mandated the redevelopment of 60 railway stations in a phased manner while its subsidiary, IRSDC, will oversee the redevelopment of 62 other Railway stations across India. Coming to the Puri railway station, it will have segregated entry and exit, baggage security, check-in area, special provisions for the differently-abled and green building features.

Art Gallery, Solar Energy & Rain Water Harvesting In The Works Here

Speaking about this redevelopment, Dudeja stated that, the Puri Railway Station revamp will pave the way for tourism prospects and position it among one of India’s leading destinations for religious tourism. Let’s dive deep into the new facilities available at the Puri railway station. The station will be redesigned as a multimodal transit hub with international standards with segregation for entry and exit, baggage security, check-in area, an information centre/enquiry centre, and an art gallery. It will have provision for differently-abled, including access ramps, lifts, and tactile flooring.

The green building will feature sustainable and energy-efficient designs. There will be maximum utilization of natural light and ventilation. Rainwater harvesting and solar energy generation will be given prime focus.  Puri Railway Station falls under the NSG-2 Category terminal station under the Khurda division of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) Zone. It’s one of the busiest stations of East Coast Railway, with eight platforms handling 52 trains daily, including mail, express, and passenger trains.
