Flying Out Of India? QR Code On RT-PCR Reports Mandatory For International Flights

International passengers flying out of India will now need to have QR codes on their RT-PCR test reports. The rule will come into force on May 22, 2021. Authorities won’t allow passengers without QR codes on their reports to board the flights. Earlier, many passengers had used false or forged negative test reports to travel. Their negligence can put the health of other passengers at risk. To avoid this issue, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has now mandated QR codes on the negative test reports. Read on to know more.

MoCA Makes QR Codes Compulsory On RT-PCR Negative Reports For International Flights

An Office Memorandum by the Ministry of Civil Aviation reads, “To ensure minimum physical contact and smooth movement of passengers in the present pandemic situation, without compromising on the verification of the necessary details, the airline operators are advised to accept only those passengers who are carrying a negative RT-PCR test report with QR code for boarding international flights departing from India after 0001 hours on 22nd May 2021. This is applicable only to those passengers who are required to carry RT-PCR test report as per the guidelines/requirements issued by the destination countries.”

Booking International Flights Now

Many countries have banned flights from India due to the alarming second wave of COVID-19.
