Her former personal chef, Darren McGrady revealed that the Queen prefers to eat the same food every day.

Darren McGrady Reveals What Queen Elizabeth II Ate Every Day For Over 91 Years

Chef Darren McGrady was the personal chef to Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, Prince William, and Prince Harry for almost 15 years. Via his YouTube channel, he shared that the Queen loves to have jam pennies (jam sandwiches) since she was in the nursery. And since then, along with her afternoon tea, she has jam pennies every day. Because of how simple the dish is, even the most loyal royal fans will probably be surprised what the food is. Chef McGrady shared on his YouTube channel that no matter who Queen dines with during tea time, she always wants her favorite sandwich.

Queen Elizabeth’s Favorite Sandwich Is Made with Just 3 Ingredients

You definitely don’t need a private chef to prepare this meal fit for a monarch. McGrady shared that the queen’s favorite jam choice is strawberries. “At Balmoral Castle, we made jam with beautiful Scottish strawberries from our garden,” said former chef McGrady.

Queen Elizabeth’s Afternoon Tea Includes Scones

McGrady also said Queen Elizabeth’s afternoon tea includes scones in addition to jam pennies. Yes, he said no afternoon tea is complete without scones. The scones are served to the Queen in the most authentic Cornish way. Plain scones raisin folded scones are served to the queen.

Chef Darren McGrady said, “When I started as a young chef at Buckingham Palace, it was quite fascinating to see queen Elizabeth considered her afternoon tea very important.”
