Ramadan 2020: No Ramadan Tents In UAE This Year

The Covid-19 pandemic has turned the world upside down. The UAE has left no stone unturned in keeping its residents safe during the scenario, and now there’s a new update. The Sharjah City Municipality has suspended the issuance of Ramadan tent permits. The decision comes as yet another precautionary measure to contain the spread of Covid-19 in UAE.

The municipality in coordination with Sharjah Islamic Affairs has suspended all Ramadan tents this year.

. . أعلنت بلدية مدينة الشارقة عن إيقاف إصدار تصاريح الخيم الرمضانية لهذا العام والتي تشهد إقبالاً من الجمهور تزامناً مع بداية شهر رمضان المبارك، ويأتي هذا القرار ضمن مجموعة من الإجراءات التي قامت بها البلدية في ظل الظروف الحالية وتماشياً مع جهود الدولة في مواجهة جائحة فيروس كورونا وضمن الحرص على اتخاذ كل ما يلزم من أجل الحد من انتشاره، حيث تم التنسيق مع دائرة الشؤون الإسلامية في الإمارة من أجل إيقاف إصدار تصاريح خيم إفطار الصائمين التي تتم إقامتها سنوياً بالقرب من المساجد خلال الشهر الفضيل، كما ستكثف البلدية من حملاتها التفتيشية للتأكد من عدم قيام أية خيمة دون تصريح، وسيتم اتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة بحق صاحب الخيمة وإزالتها فوراً وذلك بهدف الإلتزام بالقوانين وبهذا القرار. وتؤكد البلدية على ضرورة التواصل مع مركز الاتصال على الرقم 993 أو قنوات التواصل الأخرى التابعة لها في حال وجود أية ملاحظات أو استفسارات. #بلدية_مدينة_الشارقة . . Sharjah City Municipality announced that it has suspended the issuance of Ramadan tent permits for this year. These permits usually witness strong demand on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan. This decision comes as part of the precautionary measures to contain the spread of Covid-19. The municipality has coordinated with Sharjah Islamic Affairs to suspend issuing permits for Iftar tents that are set up annually near mosques during Ramadan. It will intensify inspection campaigns to ensure that no tents are set up illegally, and it will take the necessary action against any person setting up a tent illegally as well as removing the tent immediately. The municipality urges the public to share their comments or inquiries through its call centre on 993 or other communication channels. #shjmunicipality

In addition, inspection campaigns will also be set up to ensure no tents are set up illegally. Furthermore, legal action will be taken against those who set up tents.
