As per Booking.com, travel today isn’t just about exploring another country. It’s now seen as a meaningful activity, especially for parents and kids. According to their survey, 75% of Indian parents are prioritising travel in 2025. This is in comparison to 58% in the Asia-Pacific region and 53% globally.
Booking.com says travel has become a powerful way for Indian parents to express their values and traditions. It gives them a chance to explore, learn, and connect with their loved ones. Parents now want to spend more quality time with their kids, and some are even embracing solo travel for personal growth. When it comes to destinations, Indian parents prefer Asia (62%), followed by Europe (55%) and North America (26%).

Why Are Indian Families Travelling More?
According to the report by Booking.com, there are various reasons Indian parents are now prioritising travel. 98% plan to travel within India at least once, 90% are planning international trips, while 79% of them are open to solo trips. Some of the top reasons behind their trips are:
- Exposure to diverse cultures- 92%
- Connecting kids to their own culture- 90%
- Weddings-73%
- Reunions- 63%
- Visiting family/friends- 41%
- Family time- 72%
- Relaxation- 68%
Indian parents are also changing how they spend. Many are ready to increase their travel budgets in 2025 and not just for essentials like accommodation and shopping, but for memorable experiences too. Their spending plans include:
- Willing to pay for their partner’s trip- 92%
- Willing to pay for their child’s trip- 86%
- High travel budget- 84%
- Prefer one long vacation- 78%
- Prefer short multiple vacations- 76%
- Willing to travel during off-season- 70%
- Spending on shopping- 68%
- Spending on restaurants- 65%
- Spending on accommodation- 58%
Technology For Travel Planning
Indian families are now relying more on tech and AI for smoother trips. As per the data from Booking. com, 91% use it to find authentic experiences, 57% use it for travel safety tips, 52% for recommendations, 48% for activity ideas and 40% to grab travel deals.
