A Twitter user, Chirag Barjatya, tweeted about a businesswoman from Surat who sells theplas for a living. According to his tweet, Hennaben, the business owner, sells around 3,000 to 4,000 theplas every day! This would require a lot of ingredients and, that too, in larger quantities. In the video, you can see ladies sitting around and doing their respective work. Some were kneading the dough while others were rolling out the theplas. And a few of them were in charge of cooking them on tawa.

Thepla is a soft Indian flatbread that is typically served with Gujarati food. While very common throughout Gujarat, it is notably widespread among the Jain population.

It can be consumed as a snack or as breakfast in most cases. However, you can also eat them as a late-afternoon snack or as a side dish with a meal. Thepla can be made with wheat flour, besan, methi, and other spices. Yoghurt, red garlic chutney, and sweet mango pickles blend well with thepla.

Theplas are commonly made with methi, however, it can be replaced with radish and dudhi. Other ingredients for theplas include mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, and garlic. Methi thepla is the most well-known variation of this classic dish.

This story of a self-employed woman is inspiring for many individuals who are trying to make a living.
