After the COVID-19 pandemic, an increasing number of people have started placing food orders via online platforms. As a result, the pressure on delivery agents has escalated too. Also, wrangles regarding issues like order delays, faulty packaging, etc. among delivery agents, customers and restaurants are nothing new. Recently, a Swiggy delivery boy had an argument with a worker at Greater Noida’s Zam Zam restaurant over order delay. When the owner of the restaurant attempted to prevent a fight between the two, he was shot dead. The restaurant owner, Sunil Agarwal succumbed to death. Initially, it was being thought that the delivery boy shot the owner, but the bullet had actually come from outside.

Restaurant Owner Shot Dead In Greater Noida

Sunil Agarwal had his restaurant Zam Zam inside a residential complex named Mitra. On August 31, a Swiggy delivery agent reached the restaurant to collect the order. The order included chicken biryani and poori sabzi. When the restaurant staffer told him that one of the items of the order is not ready and he will have to wait for some time, he went into an argument with the staffer. When Agarwal attempted to stop the fight between the two, he was shot on head by someone from outside. As per the latest update, the cops have confirmed that the three men involved in the shooting were under the influence of alcohol and they are not connected with the eatery or the delivery agents. Swiggy Had Approached Authorities To Verify The Identity Of The Criminal

After Agarwal was shot, he was rushed to the hospital by a restaurant employee. At the hospital, the doctors declared him dead. According to NDTV, Swiggy had stated that it had approached the concerned authorities to verify the identity of the delivery agent involved in the incident and confirm if he was associated with the delivery platform. The company added that it hires delivery agents only after background verification which also involves checking past criminal records and court cases. Swiggy has confirmed that the information of their delivery boy shooting Agarwal is absolutely untrue.
