Tamil Nadu is home to beautiful beaches — whether it’s the Mahabalipuram beach on the shore of the Bay of Bengal, Chennai’s bustling Marina beach or the state’s cleanest beach, VGP Golden Beach. And what’s most exciting about these beaches these days is that they are buzzing with baby turtles.

25,000 Baby Turtles Released Into Sea At Tamil Nadu Beaches

Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer, Supriya Sahu who is the Addl Chief Secretary of Environment Climate Change & Forests of Tamil Nadu took to Twitter to share some good news. Supriya Sahu shared two fascinating videos of turtle hatchlings on Twitter. In her caption, she mentions that the beaches of Tamil Nadu are buzzing with baby turtles.

The IAS officer goes on to add that Team Tamil Nadu Forest is busy with the turtle nesting season. Here’s what’s the most exciting piece of news you’d hear today. The Hatchery at Chennai has already released over 25,000 turtle hatchlings this season. Supriya Sahu quotes that this is the highest so far in several years. Isn’t this simply amazing?

What would take your breath away are the videos she tweeted. In the first video, you can spot scores of grey-coloured baby turtles dribbling in the sand. The authorities are picking up the hatchlings and placing them into a big basket. In the second video, the baby turtles are released into the sea. It’s so cute to see the small turtles crawl towards the sea, so they can finally swim in the deep blue waters.
