Thailand Has A Floating Train Where Passengers Can Enjoy Stunning Lake Views. Here’s All About It!

A train from Bangkok has earned the name ‘Floating Train’. What is so unique about this train to receive such a name? Well, the route of this train is through the Pasak Jolasid Dam —the country’s largest earth-filled dam in Lopburi province. The raised water levels post-monsoon give the train a floating-like illusion. Passengers on the train experience scenic views, thus adding to its popularity. The train runs on weekends from November to February. According to Reuters, the tickets have been selling out rapidly and are sold out till New Year.

The floating train starts from Hua Lamphong station in Bangkok for a day-long ride. It passes through the Pasak Jolasid dam which is almost 6 hours away. The train takes a halt of 20 minutes, therefore, allowing travellers to enjoy the view. According to the officials, the water levels have risen unusually high.

While the floating train witnessed fewer visitors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this weekend, the floating train is expected to give  Thailand’s domestic tourism a push. The Nation Thailand reported that the train will operate as scheduled, except during the New Year weekend.
