Thanekars, Traffic Jams To Ease As Heavy Vehicles Banned During 5 AM To 11 PM In The City

If you’ve travelled through Thane by road, you must have noticed the unusually high number of heavy vehicles on the road. Especially during the weekends, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another four-wheeler vehicle on the road amidst the huge number of trucks and trailers. Paired with potholed roads, such a high number of heavy vehicles leads to really bad traffic jams. Hence the city police have recently announced a heavy vehicle ban in Thane during the daytime.

Heavy Vehicles Banned In Thane During Daytime

If you live in or have frequently visited Thane, you know that the roads are not in the most ideal of conditions. On top of that, there is an unusually high number of trucks and trailers on the road in the region. All of this culminates in really bad traffic jams and bottlenecking.

To ease the congestion, the Thane police have taken a rather drastic measure. From now on, heavy vehicles will no longer be allowed entry into the city during the daytime. From 5 AM to 11 PM, vehicles with more than eight wheels will be disallowed. This includes multi-axle vehicles as well as trailers.

This means that they can only travel via the city during the night after 11 PM. However, according to an article recently published by The Free Press Journal or the FPJ, heavy vehicles have been provided with alternative routes that they may use for the other 18 hours that they’re disallowed in the city.

This move will also ease traffic congestion along the Mumbai-Nashik Highway, as well as in the cities of Bhiwandi and Kalyan.
