These price drops have been compared to 2022 in the same period.

A big reason for the airfare drop this year happens to be the fact that there are several deals being offered to travellers as the airlines compete against one another. Travel experts in the same report have revealed that this is also attributed to the fact that the revenge tourism is easing. Moreover, an expert from Skyscanner. which is a travel search engine and agency, revealed that according to its Travel Trends 2024 report, there are many destinations, which are seeing the biggest airfare drop from the UAE.

Top Destinations that Have Seen An Airfare Drop

This is for 2023 as compared to the same period last year. Some of the places mentioned are Orlando in the United States with 72%, Malé in Maldives at 58%, Rome, in Italy with 52%, and Munich in Germany with 47%. Other places like Bangkok and Thailand, Bali in Indonesia, and Antalya in Turkey have also seen a price drop of anywhere between 17% and 23%. In case you’re wondering about the reason for this, it has been attributed to airlines stimulating bookings that happened through seasonal discounts and of course, the addition of new routes and capacity.

Demand For Travel In Winter Vacation Seems Strong

While the demand for travel in the winter vacation, which is also the Q4 of 2023 looks strong, it is at 31% higher than the same period the previous year. And even though the prices are up by 6% this year, there are some great flight offers and saving options.
Other travel agencies have also mentioned that this moderate reduction in airfare has been seen for some major global destinations. For instance, the airfare to some of these places in September was down by 15% to 20%!

And so, residents should ideally try to make use of this opportunity to make travel plans earlier and book the tickets in advance for even better deals. Not to mention, the non-holiday period of course also offers more travel options.

This comes after according to a survey it was revealed that travellers are planning to reduce their holiday bills by taking holidays that do not coincide with the peak season. Moreover, many are also choosing to look for destinations where day-to-day life is relatively cheaper as compared to the city where they live. According to the Sky Scanner Travel Trends 2024 report, more than 32% of UAE travellers have revealed that airfares determine their choice of destination.

What Factors Determine A Holiday Destination For UAE Travellers?

As it happens, the report also revealed that 90% of the travellers in the UAE plan to take the same number if not more trips abroad in 2024, as compared to 2023. While 42% of the UAE travellers feel that the overall vibe of a destination is as important when choosing where they holiday and 32% of the travellers revealed that the cost of flights determines their choice of destination.
