According to an article that was recently published by The Times Of India or the TOI, central to the revival plan is a targeted approach to European airlines. This includes British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa, and KLM. The proposal aims to re-establish direct routes that were discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It particularly focuses on the long-standing Kolkata-London service that ceased in 2009 after nearly eight decades of operation. The West Bengal government has taken a proactive stance. The Chief Minister personally engaging British Airways during a London visit to discuss route restoration.
