These Mountaineers Set World Record By Practising Yoga 22,850 Feet In The Himalayas

Everyone practices yoga for the betterment of their physical health, mental health, and spiritual beliefs. Usually, we practise Yoga on a plane surface lying on a Yoga mat. But the Indo- Tibetan Border Police mountaineers practised yoga like never before. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, these mountaineers set a world record by doing yoga in Uttarakhand Himalayas, that too at an altitude of 22,850 feet.

The ITBP official Twitter handle shared a video where the ITBP mountaineers practised Yoga at an extreme altitude in the snow-clad mountains of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand on the first day of June. The mountaineers were at the summit of Mount Abi Gamin and they did Yoga on a snowy terrain at a high altitude of 22,850 feet. It was on 1 June 2022 when 14 ITBP mountaineers completed a yoga session of 20 minutes. On top of the high altitude, the terrain was completely covered with snow. The ITBP shared that they created a world record by doing yoga on such terrain at such a high height.  They hold the world record for doing it at the highest altitude of 22,580 feet in the Himalayas.

This was the first time when the entire world saw the ITBP mountaineers doing yoga extensively in such a situation while creating the world record. We will celebrate the ‘International Yoga Day’ on 21 June 2022 and the theme this year is ‘Yoga for Humanity’. ITBP took inspiration from this year’s theme and performed yoga at such a thrilling location.

This is their way of spreading the importance of fitness and yoga to the world. In fact, according to ANI, they performed and promoted the benefits of Yoga earlier as well in different locations such as Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Ladakh, and much more.
