Chef Atul Lahkar Has Gathered 400 Traditional Assamese Recipes In Search Of Indigeneity

With more than 25 years of culinary experience, Chef Atul Lahkar is bestowed with an in-depth understanding of Assam. The chef has made the Assamese community aware of how the vast cuisines of Assam need to be utilized and explored for commercial travel and food purposes. And this will lead Assam to mark a place for itself on the global map. And the chef has been relentlessly finding age-old recipes to create the most authentic dishes of Assam. The chef travels across several villages of Assam and stays with the indigenous tribal families. This, according to him, is the best way to gather traditional recipes of the region. Lahkar has more than 400 traditional Assamese recipes and his pursuit of discovering other innate Assamese cuisines will surely continue forever!

Chef Atul Lahkar has been showcasing Assamese cuisine in many other reputed hotels like ITC Grand Mumbai. The chef curated an exclusive menu for the North Eastern Food Festival, hosted in their all-day dining restaurant ‘Hornby’s Pavilion’. For the chef, the hospitality industry has always been welcoming to the Assamese flavors. It’s a proud moment for Assam that Celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay, Vikas Khanna, etc, approach Chef Lahkar before exploring Assamese cuisine. From working as a chef for the Delicacy restaurant to opening his first Restaurant Khorikaa, the chef has come a long way.  The chef’s pursuit of unveiling Assamese cuisine and its true flavors is totally commendable!
