This Is The Right Way To Store Coconut Chutney For Longer Shelf Life

Chutney is a great side dish. The sweet, tangy flavor of the chutney complements even the simplest of meals. And if you’re from Delhi, you know the craze for the delicious combo of green chutney with onions. In fact, making chutney at home is not difficult at all. But sometimes we end up making more than required for a day. So, we store the leftover chutney.

However, chutneys lose their flavor and freshness when stored for long periods of time. If stored improperly, the chutney will taste disgusting after a while. That is why people tend to add some artificial additives to chutneys to keep them fresh for a long time. You can easily extend the shelf life of chutneys without adding any artificial additives.

Here How To Preserve Your Chutneys For Long Without Losing Their Taste And Smell.

  • Start by heating a steel skillet or deep-bottomed pot over medium-high heat. Pour water until the pot is half full. Boil water for 4-6 minutes. Then turn the heat down when the water starts to boil and take a clean glass jar in which you want to store the chutney. Place the jar in the steel skillet so that it can be sterilized.
  • Sterilize for at least 5 minutes. Then carefully take out the jar with tongs and let it come to room temperature.
  • Once the jar is cooled down, dry it with a tissue to prevent moisture. Then add the freshly made chutney. Leave some space so that the lid can be placed properly.
  • Wipe the heated lid with a paper towel and close the lid tightly.
  • And the last step is to take a giant pot filled with boiling water. Set the small chutney jar into that pot and let it boil for 10 minutes.
  • Again, with the help of tongs take the jar out and let, it cool for a day or so. After that store it in the refrigerator.

And like this, your chutney will stay fresh, and healthy for a long.
