Travelling To Europe From India? This Airline Is Cancelling More Than 1000 Flights

Due to a strike called by a union on July 27, the German flag carrier Lufthansa has cancelled more than 1,000 flights. The airline stated in a statement that almost all incoming and departing flights at its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich have been cancelled. A large number of travellers were also unable to board their intended aircraft to Frankfurt. Connections from, among other cities, Buenos Aires, Johannesburg, Miami, or New-Delhi had to be cancelled.

1.023 Flights Were Cancelled By Lufthansa

Nearly all of Lufthansa’s incoming and departing flights at its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich have been cancelled. Lufthansa cancelled about 1.023 flights in Frankfurt and Munich. More than 1,34,000 passengers got affected because of the cancellations. In the midst of the busiest travel period, the trade union verdi’s warning strike is having a significant operational impact. On Wednesday it had to call out the entire flight program at Frankfurt and Munich. The coming weekend is going to see the beginning of vacation season in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg and Lufthansa is leaving no stone unturned to bring its operation back to normal as soon as possible. The effects of this strike will also lead to flight cancellations or delays even on Thursday and Friday.

Passengers Are Impacted During Peak Season

The airline gave out a statement saying the passengers who are affected because of the cancellations will be informed and rebooked on other alternative flights possibly as the capacities are limited for the same. Chief Human Resources Officer and Labor Director of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Michael Niggemann said that the early escalation of a previous bargaining round is causing a huge impact. The passengers are getting impacted during peak season and also the employees are under pressure.
