Turkey-Syria Earthquake: Dutch Researcher Predicted Earthquakes 3 Days Ago

Hours after 3 devastating earthquakes hit Turkey and Syria on Monday, another earthquake of 5.6 magnitude hits the region. This is the fourth earthquake to hit the region. With more than 4,000 people already declared dead, death tolls are still on the rise in a calamity that is now being called the Turkey-Syria earthquake. The search operation organised by the rescue team is still underway and the fear is that the final number of deaths will be much higher than what it is now.

Four disastrous earthquakes hit Turkey and Syria within 24 hours. The first earthquake was of 7.8 magnitudes on the Richter scale and wiped out more than 3,000 lives. The epicentre of this earthquake was near Nurdagi in the Gaziantep province.

This massive earthquake was followed by two more earthquakes in the Kahramanmaraş province. Today, a fourth earthquake has hit the central region of Turkey, which was measured at 5.6 magnitudes on the Richter scale.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, has declared seven days of mourning in the country. Turkish flags will fly at half mast within and outside the country at its diplomatic missions.

Syria, too, has faced some major damages. Many of the historic sites in Aleppo have been severely damaged in the wake of the earthquake.

Dutch Researcher Predicted The Earthquake 3 Days Ago

Amidst the sympathetic tweets and posts for the country, a tweet has been going viral on Twitter. The tweet in question apparently predicted the earthquake three days before the disastrous event took place.

The prediction was made by a Dutch researcher by the name of Frank Hoogerbeets. The researcher, nearly three days ago, tweeted a seismic map of the now disaster-stricken area along with the caption “Sooner or later there will be a ~M 7.5 #earthquake in this region. (South Central Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon).”

The researcher works for Solar System Geometry Survey. He posted the tweet on the 3rd of February and nearly three days later, his prediction came true.

India Dispatches Help To The Disaster-Stricken Country

Keeping in mind the tragic nature of the incident, many countries are sending help to Turkey. India, too, has dispatched help. Relief teams and supplies have been sent to the affected areas of the country.

Equipment like drilling machines, medical supplies, and even teams from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been dispatched to aid the country in during these trying times.
