Who doesn’t like holidays? Especially, the ones that are planned! UAE residents can now plan for the next year as the government has announced holidays for 2025. Here’s all about the resolution issued by the cabinet.

The UAE cabinet has announced the holidays for 2025 for both the public and private sectors. According to a resolution passed by the government, both public and private sectors will get a holiday on January 1st, 2025. The Islamic New Year, Muharram 1, will also be observed as a holiday. However, the precise date on the Gregorian calendar has not yet been determined. Also, an extended weekend from Shawaal 1–3 in observance of Eid Al-Fitr and if Ramadan lasts 30 days, there will be an additional day off.

In honour of Arafat Day on Dhu Al Hijjah 9, the UAE will have a day off. Then, from Dhu Al Hijjah 10 to 12, there will be three days off in observance of Eid Al-Adha. Rabi Al Awwal 12, which honours the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, is included in the resolution. To commemorate Commemoration Day and the 54th UAE National Day, December 2 and 3, respectively, will be designated as holidays.

Any Other Day Offs May Be Rescheduled

The resolution’s second section specifies that, except for Eid holidays, any of the official holidays mentioned in Article 1 may be rescheduled by a Cabinet decision to fall on a Monday or Tuesday.

According to Article 4 of the resolution, local governments may designate additional official holidays for their government agencies and institutions on exceptional occasions or for any other cause. These holidays are not included in this resolution. Under Article 1 of the Cabinet’s decision No. 27 of 2024, which deals with public holidays in the United Arab Emirates, information about the next days off was disclosed.

Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2019, Federal Law No. 33 of 2021, Federal Law No. 49 of 2022, and Federal Law No. 11 of 2017 were reviewed before the resolution was published.
