The state of Uttar Pradesh in India has undertaken to improve its roadway networks and connectivity with the neighbouring states. It is said that this improvement will boost the state’s economic growth, infrastructure development, and flourishing real estate markets. Following Are The Details Of Uttar Pradesh Expressways

1. Yamuna Expressway

The cities of Delhi and Agra connect via the Yamuna Expressway. Now, the journey between these two cities is only two to two and a half hours. There are three phases of the expressway: Phase I connects the Taj International Aviation Hub with Greater Noida; Phase II reaches midway between the Aviation Hub and the Taj International Aviation Hub; and Phase III extends from the Aviation Hub to Agra.

2. Noida-Greater Noida Expressway

The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway stretches to the Yamuna Expressway. It links Noida Sector 168 to the southeast portion of the Okhla Bird Sanctuary. It is a grand ₹400 crore project.

Number of Lanes: 6

3. Agra-Lucknow Expressway 

It used to take about six hours for a trip between Agra and Lucknow; today it just takes three and a half hours. The Yamuna Expressway also connects to this expressway, connecting Delhi with Lucknow. For safety and security reasons, there are 10 ambulances available on this stretch.

4. Delhi-Meerut Expressway

The construction of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway is part of National Highway 3 (NH3). It is being built on one of the busiest routes in the NCR and its starting point is the Nizamuddin Bridge in Delhi.

Date of Inauguration: March 2021

5. Purvanchal Expressway

The Purvanchal Expressway was inaugurated by the Prime Minister. It connects nine important districts of Uttar Pradesh: Gazhipur, Mau, Azamgarh, Ambedkar Nagar, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Amethi, Barabanki, and Lucknow. Currently, the travel time from Lucknow to Ghazipur takes around 10 hours.

6. Bundelkhand Expressway

This route is one of the latest expressways in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The expressway runs through 7 districts of Uttar Pradesh: Chitakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Auriaya, and Etawah. It is also connected to the Delhi-Meerut expressway.

Date of Inauguration: July 2022

7. Gorakhpur Expressway

The Gorakhpur Expressway is currently under construction and once completed, it will connect Gorakhpur to Lucknow. The travel time from Lucknow to Gorakhpur will be reduced by 5 hours. The project is also divided into two phases.

Expected Completion Date: December 2023

8. Ganga Expressway

Once completed, this Expressway will connect Meerut and Prayagraj. The village of Judapur Dandu will be the final destination, starting from Bijauli village. Approximately twelve districts of Uttar Pradesh would be connected by it.

9. Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway

This route will be about 3.5 kilometres long and run parallel to NH 25. It is expected to reduce traffic in the city. The expressway will be known as National Expressway 6.

10. Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway

Ghaziabad and Kanpur, these two industrial cities, will be connected by it, reducing the travel time to three hours. Nine major districts will be connected by this, and they are Ghaziabad, Unnao, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, and Kanpur.

11. Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway

Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal are three significant Indian states that will be connected by the Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway. The expressway will cut travel time to six hours from 15 hours between Gorakhpur and Siliguri. 

Length: 520 Km
Expected Completion Date: 2025

12. Delhi-Dehradun Expressway

Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand will connect to Delhi by this expressway. Travel time will go down from five hours to two and a half hours. So, Delhi to Dehradun will just be a quick trip soon.

Expected Completion Date: December 2023

13. Ghazipur-Ballia-Manjhi Expressway

The expressway will connect Buxar in Bihar with Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur. The expressway will be under construction gradually. The first phase of the greenfield expressway will cost ₹618 crore.

Expected Completion Date: Next two years
