Due to a technical glitch, a helicopter had to make an emergency landing in Kedarnath today. The helicopter, carrying seven people onboard, landed approximately 100 metres before the helipad. All the passengers and the pilot are safe. As per reports, the landing took place due to a problem with the rotor of the helicopter.

Huge Rush For Char Dham Yatra This Year

The Char Dham Yatra for this year began on May 10. While Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Kedarnath yatras began on May 10, the doors for the Badrinath Temple opened on May 12. Hindu devotees take these spiritual yatras from April-May to October-November. According to religious beliefs, one should complete this yatra in a clockwise direction. Therefore, the devotees usually start their journey from Yamunotri, then move to Gangotri, then Kedarnath, and finally end at Badrinath.

Seeing the growing number of pilgrims visiting these shrines every year, the Uttarakhand government has made registration mandatory for people visiting the Char Dhams. Devotees can only start the Char Dham Yatra after online registration. The offline registration in Haridwar and Rishikesh has now been cancelled.

We are glad that the technical glitch in the helicopter moving toward Kedarnath did not lead to a bigger accident. This should be a wake-up call for all the helicopter services in the area to make sure that the choppers are provided with regular maintenance and given a thorough check-up from time to time.
