Monsoon season continues to show its worst side in several states in India. After incessant downpours, floods, and landslides in the past month, the weather is still grim in August. It is raining cats and dogs in several parts of Uttarakhand and in between the harsh weather, a massive landslide was reported in Gaurikund on Friday. The landslide hit on the Kedarnath Yatra route and the consequences look scary.

People Living In This Area Faced Severe Hurdles Due To The Landslide

This natural calamity in the Rudraprayag district resulted in severe destruction to many people. Several houses and shops have been damaged badly, according to a report by LiveMint. Many people suffered injuries following the landslide striking on the Kedarnath-Yatra route. It has been raining heavily since yesterday near Gaurikund. A total of 3 shops faced damages due to the major rocks of landslides and suffered incessant downpours from Thursday night, according to a report by Hindustan Times.

Rudraprayag disaster management officials stated that there is a risky chance of about 10 to 12 people getting buried or washed away because of the frightening landslide on the Kedarnath Yatra route. Following a flash flood in a Uttarakhand waterfall on Thursday night, about 12 people are now missing. This flash flood destroyed about 6 shops near Gaurikund, according to a report by The Weather Channel.

A Thorough Search Is Underway To Find These People

A State Disaster Response Force team reached the spot soon and initiated the process to search for the people that might have got buried or washed away because of the terrifying landslide in Gaurikund. According to the latest updates reported at around 9 AM on Friday, the rescue operation in search of these people is underway near the affected region.

Travelling in mountains and hilly areas during the monsoon season is certainly a scary experience.
