The Philippines government collects a twelve per cent tax on commodities and goods consumed within the country. Now, they have announced a tax refund programme for foreign tourists. This proposal was approved by the President himself and the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) has released a statement confirming it. According to the reports, foreign tourists will get a value-added tax (VAT) refund on commodities that they will take out of the country. This is supposed to increase tourist footfalls and help the Philippines’ economy.

According to the released statement, the proposal is supposed to benefit the airport’s infrastructure and tourism investments. Moreover, the President has approved an online visa provision for Japanese, Indian, South Korean and Chinese tourists.
