Neeraj Chopra, a distinguished javelin thrower from India, has once again proven his mettle on the global stage by securing the prestigious World Athletics Championships gold medal, adding another remarkable achievement to his already illustrious career. Achieving and sustaining such a low body fat percentage is a priority in his sport. Neeraj has established a strict diet regimen to keep it at 10% and here’s all you need to know about it.

Prior to this victory, Chopra had already stood out as one of the two Indians to possess a World Championships medal. Now, he has attained an even higher distinction by becoming the sole representative from his country to possess two medals from this esteemed competition. He is also the first Indian to secure the gold medal. Shedding light on his diet, he shared that it majorly revolves around fruits and protein-rich foods. 

In an interview with ESPN, Neeraj Chopra shared that his daily routine begins with a refreshing start, opting for juice or coconut water. His breakfast is light yet nourishing, typically consisting of three to four egg whites, whole grain bread, a bowl of Dalia, and a serving of fresh fruits. Lunch, a crucial meal for athletes, comprises curd and rice along with protein sources like pulses and grilled chicken. Neeraj accompanies his lunch with a salad, ensuring a balanced intake of nutrients.

In this interview, he shared that he keeps his Dinner light and nutritious. He usually prefers soup, boiled vegetables, and fruits. Since protein remains a cornerstone of his diet, he supplements his intake with protein supplements. Interestingly, Neeraj Chopra was a strict vegetarian until 2016. That year, he incorporated non-vegetarian food into his diet to better support his training. More recently, he introduced salmon, considering it a beneficial addition.

Interestingly, Neeraj Chopra’s affinity for wholesome food extends to his preference for traditional home-cooked meals.

He holds a special affection for the dishes from his hometown, fondly referring to them as “gaav ka khaana.” This homemade fare, prepared with fresh ingredients, holds a significant place in his heart. It also contributes to his overall strength and well-being.
