You Can Soon Travel To Bengaluru Airport On Electric Trains & Skip Traffic

Pleasant weather throughout the year, hospitable locals, swanky restaurants and metropolitan culture, are some of the reasons we absolutely love Bengaluru. But if there’s one teeny tiny complaint, it’s got to be the commute to the Kempegowda International Airport ( KIA). Often a joke amongst Bengalureans, the airport is nestled miles away from the city, add to it the nuisance of navigating traffic, and you’d prefer travelling by bus or train, instead of a plane. Here’s where we have good news. You can soon travel to Bengaluru Airport on electric trains and happily skip traffic. Here’s how.

Electric MEMU Trains To Ferry Passengers To Hal Station Near Airport

According to a report by the Times of India, Bengalureans can soon travel to the airport on Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) trains. MEMU trains will ferry passengers to the halt station. The halt station is built by BIAL ( Bengaluru International Airport Limited) and it’s located 3.5 km away from the Kempegowda International Airport. This electric train and system to commute to the airport will benefit around 28,000 flyers and employees.

Travel To Bangalore Airport For Just ₹15

The best part is that the MEMU trains are eco-friendly. The train will travel at a speed of 100kmph through the electrified Yelahanka-Devanahalli-Chikkaballapur section (45km). Passengers can travel hassle-free to the halt station on MEMU trains for a ticket fare of just ₹10 to ₹15. However, the frequency of this train is not that high as the Devanahalli-Yelahanka is a single track. But after the section gets doubled, there will be additional trains on the route, ferrying passengers to and from the KIA halt station. Meanwhile, if you visit Bengaluru, here are some things you must do at Brigade road.
