You Can Stay At This Beautiful Hotel For ₹72 Per Night If You LiveStream It! Would You Do It?

Japanese hotel Asahi Ryokan in Fukuoka is inviting guests for to enjoy their hospitality just for one dollar. That’s not the real cost though. Guests must pay a much bigger price than money. You can enjoy all the facilities at a top-notch hotel if you take up the owner’s challenge to live stream your entire stay. Creepy much?

What is it

There’s a particular room up for grabs for those who dare. The signs outside read warnings against sharing private information like that on passports or credit cards by mistake and “lewd acts” aka sex. Anyway, a survey revealed Millenials prefer travel over sex. A 24-hour live stream starts when you enter the room and goes on and on and on until you leave for ever. Even though, you’re not on display anymore, the camera never stops rolling. It sits on a table waiting for its prey and they walk up straight to their undoing, (or fame?). It documents all areas of the room except the bathroom and the common area. There’s a microphone too which is enabled on request, yes, people might request for their conversations to be heard by strangers on the internet. ‘The Truman’s Show’ has become a version of reality sooner than we predicted!

Some guests are fascinated by the idea of being watched, some cancel last moment. For these emergency situations, the manager selflessly steps in. The 10-room hotel costs $27 a night for ‘normal’ rooms, that’s a category now. The viral One Dollar Room is open for bookings. It’s been 4 days and the hotel’s YouTube channel has 3,000 followers, 1,000 less than the minimum requirement for ad eligibility. In this complicated new economy and new revenue system, he needed to think outside the box. So, he did. Now we have this.
