About The Monument

Taj Mahal

The construction of the monument was commissioned in 1643 by Shah Jahan, to house the tomb of one of his favourite wives, Mumtaz Mahal. It took 10 years for the construction of Taj Mahal to be completed; and it also became the burial ground for Shah Jahan himself. The complex has a mosque, a garden and the tomb which is known for its intricate work.
