Royal Enfield Debuts Camp Kharu In Ladakh

Royal Enfield has revealed Camp Kharu, its historic Green Pit Stop in Ladakh on well-travelled motorcycle routes. This is the first of many to be built. Camp Kharu is a short drive from Leh City on the Leh-Manali highway (NH3). Situated on the banks of the Indus River and offering breathtaking views of the Zanskar range, Camp Kharu is a two-storied, 1,500-square-foot haven. Having a rugged earth architecture tucked away in the Kharu market, travellers can pause here for a break, refreshments, and riding routes. You can also find tourism information, including a list of homestays and experiences related to Intangible Cultural Heritage curated by Royal Enfield.

Six self-help group (SHG) women from the Kharu hamlet, ranging in age from 37 to 55, are in charge of the place. Camp Kharu has a cafe that serves traditional Ladakhi food. They are prepared with ingredients that are found nearby, commercial and exhibition spaces, and public restrooms. These women were chosen with assistance from the village Panchayat and have had extensive training from Royal Enfield in facility management, cooking, baking, bookkeeping, hospitality, and entrepreneurship. They were also accompanied on exposure trips to Goa and Mumbai, where they received coaching from renowned chefs such as Chef Prateek Sadhu of Naar.
