Tihar Jail opens its gates to visitors in the next few months to tour around and you don’t need a crime to commit.

What Is It?

If you’re done visiting all the forests, beaches, mountains and famous monuments of the world then it’s time for you to try something unique and travel to the largest prison complex in South Asia, Tihar Jail.

The Tihar Jail was established by the state of Punjab in 1957 and it surveils the maximum security. It has even imprisoned many famous political prisoners including Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

What’s In It?

The prison complex has opened its gates to visitors for what will be a paid experience for the next few months. You will have to pay a certain amount and will be given a set of prison clothes with an access inside the complex. It houses 9 central jails with about 10,500 inmates.

You can catch a glimpse into the life of these inmates. Get involved in activities like gardening or carpentry and experience the Prison life. However, you will not be allowed to interact with the prisoners.
