Monsoons are here and our happiness knows no bounds. Even those make faces and complain about inconvenience, you gotta admit people, even you like that cool respite from that scorching heat and humidity. And with monsoons, it’s also holiday season and time to set off on amazing road trips all over the country to enjoy nature in all its glory. And what’s a road trip without Bollywood masala to spice it up? Here’s a playlist we made just for that perfect monsoon road trip and we promise it will get you jiving in no time!

1. Tip Tip Barsa Paani: Mohra (1994)

All-time monsoon favourite, this song is a mixture of iconic and high levels of discomfort and shifting in one’s own seat not knowing where to look or what to do with our hands. 90s people, you know what I’m talking about. But you gotta admit, the song is foot-tapping as hell.

For whatever reasons, it remains a classic and on the road trip, you won’t have to see the near possessed Raveena Tandon and a clueless Akshay Kumar drenched in fake rain. Win-win?

2. Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua: Shree 420

This is as ICONIC as it gets, the gorgeous Nargis and Raj Kapoor sharing an umbrella as they walk in heavy rain. Desires, restrictions and the rain all tangled under one umbrella, it is probably the best song to showcase the tussle between love and having to hold back because of societal morals that will not treat you like an adult even when you’re 50.

If you’re in love, or just broke up, the song will resonate with all and in the monsoons, it will have that added rainy effect on you too. Must add to your playlist.

3. Rim Jim Gire Saawan: Manzil

Perhaps the best song to listen to in Mumbai rains with the entire song sequence being shot LIVE during the Mumbai monsoons. Beloved actor Amitabh Bachan and the vivacious Mousami Chatterjee take a stroll along the drenched streets of Mumbai and their energy is infectious! The song will have a similar impact on you as well, hurtling towards your destination in the rain.

4. Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein by Adnan Sami

No road trip, no monsoon, no anything is complete without this old ass song that lives on in everybody’s hearts still. It will bring up those college or school memories, that first love, that first heartbreak you ever experienced. Trust me, Adnan’s melodious and voice with that rain pattering against your window and your friends singing along. * Tear Jerker Max*.

5. Safarnama: Tamasha

Gorgeous international AND domestic locations, a suave Ranbir Kapoor and the stunning Deepika go on a road trip of their own in the course of this movie and boy, is it GOALS MAX. The stunning locations of Corsica, the quiet towns of Shimla too and the hauntingly beautiful voice of Lucky Ali piercing your soul in the most calming manner. This one is it for ALL road trips.

Soul stirrer much? We say YAS. Ayushman Khurana’s voice and the guitar strings will totes tug at the strings of your heart. If bae is along, time for some cheesy PDA too while you give the steering to your single friends cursing their luck. Pair it with a hot cuppa tea you will find somewhere on a highway and the word is DIVINE. You can thank us later.

More romance coming up people. But like we guarantee all your friends will love this song soon as it belts out of your speaker.
