During this pandemic I am reminded about this Buddhist quote. And trust me this has errrrrything to do with your immunity (more on that in a bit) . If we look at how we show up, we spend each moment running ahead of ourselves, believing there’s a destination we are supposed to arrive at that’s saturated with endless happiness, acknowledgement, ease, and luxury. We are forever running away from something and toward something – and because everyone is behaving in this manner, we accept it as normal. We mentally leapfrog over the eternal present moment in everything we do, ignoring the flow of life. We think we're always in control and then when a pandemic hits, we're hit with the illusion that we're no longer in control. . Here is what I've learned about control (and I used to be a hardcore control freak and if this pandemic happened a year ago, I'd be freaking out): . ✅Control is rooted from unintegrated emotions. For me it was all about scarcity. In fact it's why I developed massive flight anxiety because when I got married to an amazing man, got two dogs that I love and a kick-ass business I was scared I'd lose it all. . ✅Control is rooted in expectations and being attached to a specific outcome and never living in the present. If things didn't go my way my world would literally be crashing down and I would flip the F out. I was also never happy with anything, chasing the next thing like a drug. . ??‍♀️So what did I do? . ??I focused on practices that made me present. This included breathwork in particular and meditation. Not only does this activate the parasympathetic nervous system but it also moves the diaphragm which then moves the lymph – which is intimately tied to our immunity and also to our emotions. The influence of the lymph system and our emotions is a two-way street. Failing to deal with strong emotions such as worry, anger or grief can cause congestion, inflammation and getting sick. . ?Want to learn more about how to protect your immunity?
