With the ‘work from home’ culture becoming the new normal, workations have started gaining popularity. Travel mavericks are now rushing to the mountains, beaches and more to get their WFH sorted amid a picturesque setting. It is not only helping them kick out the boredom of work, but also explore the beautiful vistas around while on duty. Since tourists preferred safety and functionality over luxury in 2021 holidays, staycations, workstationsand homestays emerged as watchwords in 2021. 

Indians Preferred Remote Destinations In 2021

As per a Booking.com survey, around 68 percent Indian travellers have already booked their workations. The report has also revealed that 2021 witnessed an increase in the number of travellers who would love to escape to remote destinations to combine work and leisure. India is the nation with the second-highest percentage, after Thailand. In Thailand, 69 percent people opted for working remotely. Meanwhile, here are 10 essentials you must pack for your workation.

Workation Trend To Gain Momentum In 2021

Many resorts, hotels and homestays are offering workation packages to allow people to ditch the boredom of working from home. With the ‘work from home’ culture gaining momentum, people have got the chance to work from anywhere, as long as there are required facilities and a stable internet connection. Hotels and similar properties are focusing on the provision of office essentials and Wi-Fi connection to enable people to work remotely. No wonder, the Booking.com survey has revealed 68 percent Indian travellers who have already made bookings to work remotely. In Thailand, the percentage is 69 percent. India has the second-highest percentage in terms of people opting for workation. The workation trend seems to gain momentum in 2021, as per the survey. Indians have also been travelling for workations on private jets.

Remote Working Can Become A Long-Term Reality

According to a Hindustan Times report, Booking.com’s spokesperson has said, “Working from home during the pandemic has allowed many to be released from the daily grind and commute to and from the office. And it now seems people may be reluctant to go back to their old routines. With the possibility of remote working becoming a long-term reality, it’s looking promising for those who are able to travel and set up their office anywhere – from a desk overlooking a serene lake setting to swapping your mountain screensaver for a real-life Himalayan backdrop. Bye-bye 9 to 5: work from wherever you want seems to be the new normal.”
