A 72-Passenger Seater Aircraft Crashes Down At Pokhara International Airport, Rescue Efforts Are Underway

A 72-passenger aircraft crashes down on the runway at Pokhara International Airport in Nepal. The Yeti Airlines aircraft was flying from Pokhara to Kathmandu. The news was reported by Sudarshan Bartaula, a spokesperson from Yeti Airlines. The aircraft carried a total of 68 passengers and four crew members. 

Aircraft Crashes At Pokhara International Airport

The plane crashed between the old airport and Pokhara International Airport. Due to the crash, the airport has been temporarily closed while rescue operations are undertaken. The plane crashed down while attempting to land at the Pokhara International Airport due to bad weather conditions. The plane crashed on the runway and caught fire. 

Many images and videos of the crashed plane have surfaced on the internet, showing huge fumes of smoke and fire coming out of the aircraft. Chief District Officer Tek Bahadur KC said that they have recovered 30 bodies . By far, 16 people have been pronounced dead. He said that looking at the crash, they fear many fatalities and that the chances of survivors are less. The rescue is being carried out using helicopters. Rescuers are attempting to put out a fire that had broken out in the wreckage. at the Pokhara International Airport.

22 passengers were killed in a Tara Air crash on a mountain at Sano Sware Bhir in Thasang in Mustang last May. On the plane were sixteen Nepalis, including three crew members, four Indians, and two German citizens.
