The Covid pandemic has changed our lives in more than just one way. While homes have transformed into offices, commuting within and between countries also come with a host of rules and guidelines. The UAE has bounced back to normalcy, but with strict restrictions. And now, the Abu Dhabi police have laid out a set of rules for all those entering the emirate. Residents, tourists and citizens entering Abu Dhabi must now show Emirates ID, and Covid-19 certificates.

Emirates ID, Covid-19 Certificates Mandatory To Enter Abu Dhabi
In an attempt to make the emirate more safe for residents and citizens, the Abu Dhabi Police laid out a new rule for all those entering the emirate. Travellers entering Abu Dhabi must show their Emirates ID and Covid clearance certificates. In addition, all passengers must adhere to Covid safety rules, including wearing masks. The number of passengers allowed in one vehicle is three including the driver.

The emirate has also segregated vehicles with appropriate signboards- red for emergency vehicles, blue for heavy vehicles and green for vehicles that have been permitted to enter the emirate.
Covid Rules For Tourists & Residents Entering Abu Dhabi
Firstly, Abu Dhabi is yet to issue visit or tourist visas. Only UAE Nationals and residents with a valid visa, will be permitted to enter the UAE via Abu Dhabi. Entry will not be permitted for those with any other visa types, including tourist visas. In addition, Abu Dhabi visa holders landing in Dubai must have an ICA approval.
Although a pre-travel approval cannot be obtained, passengers can update their data on the ICA website. However, it is recommended that only those who receive a ‘green OK to travel’ status from ICA are requested to travel. All residents returning to the UAE must complete a Covid-19 pre-examination at an accredited laboratory. Currently, accredited laboratories are located in 106 cities across 17 countries worldwide.
A valid Negative Covid-19 RT-PCR test report in the printed form is required for all passengers ages 12 and above. The test must be taken not more than 96 hours before departure. However, the rule is exempt for passengers coming from the UK and Germany who are permitted to take the test upon landing in Dubai airport. Transiting passengers from these countries are not required to present a Covid19 PCR test certificate unless it is mandated by your final destination.
