Have you stayed in a pod hotel while travelling in Maharashtra? Well, travellers in Pune can stay in one as the Central Railway now plans to introduce a pod hotel in Pune Railway Station. After receiving a great response from the Mumbai Railway pod hotel, CR plans to install one in Pune too. This is going to be a superb facility for frequent travellers as pod hotels are known for their super comfy space.
What Are Pod Hotels?
For the ones who are new to this concept, pod hotels were first introduced in Japan. In this way of hospitality, pod hotels provide pods or capsules to travellers. They consist of proper beds for travellers to rest. The Pune Railway Station at present has, a rest room and dormitory too, which can cater to up to 60 passengers. However, unfortunately, these spaces have limitations and aren’t good enough for travellers. Repeated complaints have been filed by the users regarding their cleanliness and hygiene.

Other than Pod Hotel, CR Also Introduced Digi Lockers
The Pod Hotel in Mumbai received a good response from users and it can be anticipated that the Pune pod hotel won’t be a disappointment too. This year, a Digi locker facility was introduced at CSMT for travellers to store their luggage. Further, to maintain the pod hotel in Mumbai, a private party was given the tender. At present, the pod hotel run on Mumbai Railway is run at ₹499 for single occupancy. Mumbai pod has 30 spaces for singles, 6 beds for double and 4 for family.
As for running the new facility in Pune, a tender will be released soon. And, it will be operated on similar lines as the Mumbai pod hotels. Authorities have also informed that the Pune railway station has enough space to run pod hotels for the travellers which will in turn boost tourism and convenience for them.
