Footage of a Chinese city disappearing in thin air has gone viral on the internet. Yes, the city of Dunhuang is seen engulfed by a gigantic wall of sand hundreds of feet high and it looks straight out of a disaster movie. The Chinese city is seen vanishing as 300 feet wall of sand blew in from the Gobi Desert. A resident shot the scary apocalyptic scene was and shared it on Twitter.

High-Rise Buildings Disappeared From View Within Seconds

In the video, the high-rise buildings are seen disappearing from view as an enormous cloud of dust moves into the city. The police shut down the roads and asked vehicles to wait as the visibility plummeted to less than 20 feet. The dust storm blew away the possessions of tourists at a nature park in the city. The group had travelled to the Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake Nature Park in the city to watch the sunset but were forced to wear glasses and masks to protect themselves from the sand.

The Sandstorm Turned The Skies Orange

A tour guide organiser reportedly mentioned that when they set off, the sky was and the sun was up. The sweeping sandstorm turned skies orange and completely blocked out the sun with thick dust. The sandstorm came in suddenly and lasted for a short time. Chinese media reported that extreme weather has become common due to human activities and deforestation in the recent years.
