After Egypt asking travellers aged over 6 to provide a negative Covid-19 test, Hawaii has also issued some SOPs that travellers will now need to follow before visiting the US state. Here’s a list of guideline you must know in case you’re visiting Hawaii anytime soon.
1. Online Application Before Boarding The Flight
The digital ‘Safe Travels’ application requires travellers to fill out their health and travel information before their flight. Once the traveller has filled the form, they are then provided with a QR code. The code scanned at the airport, allows travellers to enter Hawaii. The new rule has come into effect from September 1.
When it comes to filling out the application, there are numerous things that one needs to mention in the form. Travel information, flight number and reason for travel are some of them. Besides this, the application also includes a health questionnaire, which is accessible only 24 hours before the flight departs. It requires travellers to disclose their health status, whether or not they’ve experienced COVID-19 symptoms and their recent travel history. Speaking about the convince of this online app, Chief Information Officer of Hawaii’s Office of Enterprise Technology Services, Douglas Murdock said,
“Compared to paper processing, this online app will save travellers time at the airport and will speed up the distribution of information to state and county officials who need it to keep us all safe.”

2. Kids To Fill The Application With Their Parents
Everyone travelling to Hawaii must fill the application from their account, which will give them access to a unique QR code. When it comes to kids, they can are added to adult applications as additional travellers.
3. Screening Process Upon Arrival
Filling out the application is just one part of the process. Travellers will also go through the screening process, which includes temperature checks upon arrival and a secondary health screening for any travellers with temperatures above 100.4 degrees.
4. Quarantine Procedure
Quarantine Procedure: All individuals, both residents and visitors, arriving from out-of-state to Hawaii, are still subject to a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine. And during their stay, the travellers will have to make sure to log on to the Safe Travels Hawaii website for daily health check-ins for the duration of their quarantine. And during the quarantine period, you must remain in your hotel room or vacation rental unless there is a medical emergency. Violating the quarantine means you are subject to a maximum $5,000 fine and/or one year in jail.
5. No Pre-testing Program Till October
Hawaii was supposed to initiate a pre-testing program that would eliminate the need for out-of-state travellers to quarantine in August. But the program has been delayed until October due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in both the state and California. Meanwhile, here Here are the places that are opening up for tourism again.
