Assam’s Na-Ali Railway Over Bridge In Jorhat Finally Open To Public; Has Badminton Court Under It

Assam has invested in building modern roads and bridges, facilitating better connectivity within and beyond its borders, one such notable investment is the construction of the Na-Ali Railway Over Bridge. Recently, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the much-awaited bridge and here’s what you should know.

Assam CM Inaugurates Much Awaited Na-Ali Railway Over Bridge

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Jorhat for two days, reported Pratidin Time. As per the reports, he inaugurated the district’s first flyover, the Na-Ali Railway Over Bridge, on August 16. Reportedly, they built the 833-meter, 3-lane Railway Over Bridge at a cost of ₹88 crore. This project falls under the North East Industrial Development Scheme, aiming to ease congestion in Jorhat, reported Pratidin Time. 

In 2021, Dr Sarma initiated the construction by laying the foundation stone for a ₹78.9-crore Railway Over Bridge (ROB), reported The Sentinel. As per reports, the ROB spans 580.65 meters and is situated at Kamar Bandha Road, commonly referred to as Jail Road. 

This is situated right in front of the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital stated the report. The bridge is one of the many key developments happening currently in Assam. The bridge also acts as a roof for something unique.

What Can You Expect?

They have transformed the vacant area beneath the bridge into a fully operational badminton court. Anyone interested in playing the sport can access it. Simultaneously, the chief minister also unveiled four new facilities at Assam Agricultural University, reported Pratidin Time. 

As per the report, these include an International Guest House, an Agri Eco Tourism Retreat, and a Bio Fertilizer and Bio Pesticide Production Centre. Along with these, it also includes a brand new building for the DBT-Northeast Centre for Agricultural Biotechnology, stated the report. 

That’s not all. Furthermore, during his visit, he also laid the foundation stone for a new road. This is being done to enhance the connectivity to Jorhat Airport, Rowriah, reported Pratidin Time.

As per reports, this project comes at a cost of ₹156 crore. Assam, a state located in northeastern India, has been witnessing remarkable developments across various sectors in recent years. Led by proactive leadership, the state has embarked on a journey of growth and progress. 

The government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has been focusing on infrastructure enhancement, economic diversification, and social welfare activities. Initiatives such as the inauguration of the Na-Ali Railway Over Bridge and the development of a new road to Jorhat Airport highlight the commitment to efficient transportation networks.
