Now, former US President, Barack Obama has made an interesting confession in his latest book,  ‘A Promised Land’. Obama revealed that he learnt to make delicious dal and keema from his college friends. Read on to know more.

Interestingly, Barack Obama can make excellent dal and keema. In his latest book, ‘A Promised Land’ Obama revealed that he always held a special place in his heart for India. He spent his childhood in Indonesia. During that time, he listened to the Hindu epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata. In his book, he writes, about his love for India and wonders, the reason for it.  He reveals “Maybe it was because I’d spent a part of my childhood in Indonesia listening to the epic Hindu tales of the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, or because of my interest in Eastern religions, or because of a group of Pakistani and Indian college friends who’d taught me to cook dal and keema and turned me on to Bollywood movies.”

He Learnt To Prepare Dal & Keema From His College Friends

In 2017, Obama revealed in an interview in Delhi that he can make a mean dal and keema. He humorously said that he was probably the first US President who actually has a recipe for dal. Obama went on to add that he can prepare excellent keema and an ‘okay’ chicken. At the same time, he finds it incredibly hard to prepare rotis.
