With several fresh initiatives with building the new railway station and now connecting 61 new domestic destinations, this moves towards a more positive trend for the state of Karnataka towards greater connectivity within non-metro states and cities in India. Bengaluru Airport is driving the growth in South India and other non-metro airports in India. It contributes to an increase in the share of non-metro passengers from 55% in Financial Year 2019-’20 to 64% in Financial Year 2020-’21. This is chiefly due to the renewed confidence after the pandemic that can be seen among the passengers concerning hygiene and air travel safety. Currently, Bengaluru Airport connects 61 destinations across the country. While previously, they catered to 58 domestic destinations before the onset of the pandemic.

You Can Soon Fly From Bengaluru To Agra

In regards to this addition of non-metro airports, an official statement has been released by Bengaluru International Airport Ltd said, “Further cementing its position as one of the best-connected airports in the country, the airport will soon have flights to five new destinations that are Rajkot, Durgapur, and Dibrugarh later this month, followed by Agra and Kurnool in March 2021.” The statement further highlighted that this improved regional connectivity led to a three-fold increase in transfer passengers.

Also, the geographical advantage and handling the share of non-metro passengers has helped 30,000 passengers, who now travel daily through the Kempegowda International Airport. These numbers are a welcome sign for the travel industry recovering from the pandemic blues, and we sure hope it increases manifold.
