The P south ward in Goregaon destroyed these places on 30 January as they were operating illegally. Rajesh Akre is the assistant municipal commissioner of the P south ward and he shared that these two rooftop restaurants were running illegally for over 5 years, according to a report by Hindustan Times. He added that it is not allowed to operate rooftop restaurants. Also, they have taken all the materials from these places.

The P south ward has also released a notice for this situation of these two rooftop restaurants. They issued a notice under 351 of the MMC Act 1888. Mr Rajesh Akre also shared that the ward issued a notice to show the proper documents.

P South Ward Got Some Complaints Too

According to the report by Hindustan Times, a civic official of the ward shared how they got some complaints about improper and unauthorised construction processes and developments.

Mumbaikars are aware of the huge fire at the Kamala Mills a few years back. During that fire outbreak, the rooftop restaurants of the city came under scrutiny. Back in 2018, only 4 rooftop restaurants were running legally. Places that comply with all the provided rules and regulations could run rooftop restaurants legally.

There is a Kurar Pattern and all these constructions took place under this pattern. According to the Kurar pattern, if there are any constructions that somehow face issues in more than half of the structure because of any development, the BMC will then allow extra space to complete the affected construction. This reconstruction will take place only vertically.

This demolition happened a while back!
