How To Make These Pooris?

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar (adjust according to taste)
  • A pinch of salt
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, whole wheat flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to form a dough.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to your preference.
  • Knead the dough for a few minutes until it becomes smooth and pliable. If the dough feels too sticky, you can add a little more flour. If it feels dry, add a tablespoon of water at a time until the desired consistency is reached. Let the dough rest for about 15-20 minutes.
  • After the resting period, divide the dough into small portions. Take each portion and roll it into a smooth ball between your palms.
  • Dust a clean surface with some flour and roll out each ball into a circular disc.
  • In a deep pan or kadai, heat oil for deep frying on medium heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, carefully slide in one rolled-out poori at a time. Gently press the poori with a slotted spoon to help it puff up. Fry each poori until it turns golden brown on both sides. Remove the poori from the oil and place it on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
