The breathtaking town of Bardonecchia in Italy is now considered the best-value ski destination by the United Kingdom’s Post Office Travel Money’s ski report survey. Previously, this title was owned by Bulgaria’s Borovets. This year, there was also a new entry from Bosnia and Herzegovina which was named the most cost-effective ski retreat for families.

Bansko and Borovets in Bulgaria have witnessed a year-on-year increase of 8.2 per cent. On the other hand, Bardonechhia has only seen a year-on-year increase of just 1.4 per cent. Hence, it managed to dethrone Bulgaria. In the Italian town, for around £532 (₹56,000), you can get a ski pass for up to six days, ski and boot hire for one person and five or six half days of ski school.

According to an article which was recently published by TTG Media, all of this cost £554 (₹58,343) in Borovets. In 2018, Bansko fell to the sixth position this year whereas in 2018, it was the first. This is because it witnessed an increase of around 27 per cent across family as well as adult retreats, in part, due to a rise in ski school costs. A trip here would now set you back £642 (₹67,611).

After Borovets, the third most cost-effective ski trip was to Le Corbier, a French resort. A trip here would set you back £611 (₹64,343).

As per the article, this is the first time that a French resort has made it to the top three of the list. It also went on to say that the steepest reduction in cost for family ski trips was witnessed by Ruka Resort in Finland. It witnessed a whopping 8.9 per cent reduction in year-on-year cost.
