Chinese Food In India Is The Most Delicious: Chef Vikas Khanna

With a career spanning over two decades, Chef Vikas Khanna has established himself as one of the most talented and respected chefs in the world. He has made a name for himself as an innovative and talented chef, blending traditional Indian flavours and techniques with modern culinary trends. While he is best known for his expertise in Indian cuisine, he also has a deep appreciation for Chinese food. Well, that brings us to the episode of Tere Gully Mein, in which Chef Vikas Khanna and our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani went on an epic food trail:

Chef Vikas Khanna’s Love For Indian Chinese Food

Although Chef Vikas Khanna may have started his food journey in Amritsar as a kid and now lives in New York, his love for Indo-Chinese food knows no bounds. Kulchas are still his favourite but Mumbai’s Chef Platter, a vegetarian Chinese restaurant happens to be his favourite spot in the city.

While they savoured tandoori momos, dil-khush kebabs, Chef Khanna throws light on what makes Chinese food so popular in the country. This can be attributed to a combination of factors, including its diverse spicy flavours that appeal to the Indian palate.

While the conversations around food didn’t seem to take a halt, Chef Khanna told us many culinary secrets and hotspots to find the best food. While we may have started the food trail with Chef Platter, the first pitstop was Pet ki Baat where Chef and Kamiya had a cheesy pocket Kulcha.  Chole kulches are his favourite but this cheesy one continued to be a staple in his Mumbai food diaries.

Even during the game ‘Chatkare with Hajmola’, when asked about his favourite food joints in Amritsar, he started with Maqbool Road Dhaba. And then, he continued to name his favourite spots in the city, which we were definitely bookmarking. Some of the names he shared in an instant are Mathura chaat, Bansal ke laddoo, Kanha ki pooriyan, Gur ka karha, Sharma ji ke gulab jamun and more. So, the next time you’re in Amritsar, don’t forget to check these places.
