The Island Of Love Started With Rejection
In the 17th century, Shah Jahan built the iconic Taj Mahal as an ode to his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died during childbirth. Now, in the 21st century, a Chinese man, Xu, built an entire island in the Hetou village in Yengde city to win back his girlfriend. The couple broke up in 2020. While Xu moved back to the countryside to take care of his elderly parents, he wasn’t ready to give up on his relationship. The determined lad then used his savings of 1,00,000 yuan ( ₹11,15,942) to transform a deserted island into a romantic haven.

Romantic Island In China Has Pink Grass, Cherry Trees & Arch Bridge
Unfortunately, this extraordinary, larger than life gesture, didn’t impress his ex-lover. While his love met with rejection, this romantic island in China has become a hotspot for couples. Lovers flock from all across the country for pre and post-wedding shoots and marriage proposals. This island is truly spectacular. There’s also an arch bridge adorned with colourful flowers. Cherry trees, peach trees, pink grass and other symbols of love cover the 20-30 square meters of space. This island was completed in January, but over the past few months, it’s gained a lot of popularity as the heartfelt symbol of love.
